School Lunches

We recognise the important benefits a healthy lunchtime meal plays within the school day. We are very pleased to partner with Miquill who provide the catering for children at your school. Miquill are a small, local catering business, who's aim is to make your child’s lunchtime experience tasty and fun. All meals are freshly prepared to order every day. You can find out more about Miquill by taking at look at their newsletter.

Lunches need to be ordered at www.parentpay.com. You will be provided with details of how to log-in via a letter once your child has started at school. To book a meal, please log onto your ParentPay account, and under each child’s name, click the blue button labelled ‘make bookings’. Menus run on a three week rotation and can be found at the bottom of this page.

Special Diets

If your child has any dietary requirements, please let us know so a menu can be provided to
meet their needs. Miquill can cater for a wide variety of special diets including gluten-free,
Halal, medical diets and more. Their teams are fully trained to cater for special diets so you can be confident that your child’s needs will be met safely. All allergen information for every dish we
serve is available on request from the kitchen team so do get in touch if you would like more information. Please print and complete the following form for all dietary needs:

Cost

School meals cost £3.10 for children in years 3 and older. All children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 are entitled to free school meals but all meals need to be booked in advance.

Even if your child is entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal (as they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2), it is still important to apply for Free School Meals if you are in receipt of certain benefits (detailed below). This will ensure your child's school can obtain further funding from central government to provide additional support your child. This funding is also referred to as Pupil Premium. Please apply here or contact the school office for further information.

Eligibility for Free School Meals:

  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance

  • Income Support (IS)

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)

  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit

  • Support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 if you’re an asylum seeker

  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

  • Children who receive Income Support (IS) or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance in their own right can also get free school meals.

Packed Lunches

If your child would prefer to bring in a packed lunch, we ask that these are balanced and healthy and do not include fizzy drinks. We are a nut free school, so please ensure that you do not include any foods containing nuts in lunch boxes. We have children within our school who have a nut allergy and contact with these products could severely threaten their lives.

Breaktime Snacks and Drinks

Foundation stage and Key stage 1 children will receive free fruit during breaktime. Key stage 2 children are allowed to bring a healthy snack, for example, a piece of fruit. Drinking enough water is very important to ensure that children’s brains are functioning to their full potential for learning, so we encourage pupils to bring an unbreakable, named water bottle to school with them every day – filled with water only.
